Top 10 House Projects of 2022

I hope that you had a wonderful Christmas. We sure did, Now I’m just enjoying the holiday break with my family, eating lots of yummy leftovers and goodies, working on a fun new puzzle that I received as a gift, and now I thought I’d sit down to write up my annual home project recap blog post. These blog post are a great way for me to reflect on our home and all of the changes that I’ve made to it in a year.

I like to just share the projects in order of how they happened and not by the size of the project. So Let’s begin!

In February I teamed up with Kgorge and got some new curtains for our living and dining room. These curtains are lovely and I love how they look in our home. These curtains come in a set of two panels and are currently on sale for 66.99. Regularly 92.99. I’m not sure how long the sale will last, but I wanted to let you know in case you are interested. This flying crane pattern comes in a sheer linen or in black out which is what mine are. They also come in tan or black.

In April I added a couple of photo galleries to our home. I first added this family photo wall to our living room.

And then I also added a photo gallery to our stairway. It was a great way to display the photos that were being stored away in a closet.

The best project of the year is the barn wood we added to our ceiling. Jake and I took the wood from our old wood fence in the backyard and applied it to the ceiling in our bedroom. We worked on this project for months and we were (and still are) so happy with the way it all turned out.

In May I made over the main bathroom in our home. I painted the walls a light color, painted the trim brown, and then added new faux wood blinds and a new shower curtain. I regret leaving the overhead light on when I took pictures of the room because it makes the room look yellow. But the room itself turned out just how I imagined it to look.

Now the BIGGEST project of 2022 was no doubt our GEL- Stained floors. I sanded and added Gel stain to the wood floors in our living room, dining room, and hallway. This project was dirty, annoying, and tedious, but I have no Regrets. I am still so happy with my Gel stained floors.

Another big change that happened this year is that I gave up my sunroom so that my oldest son Liam could use it for his bedroom. My boys use to share a room, but decided they wanted their own spaces. So Liam moved into the sunroom and Jax got their old room to himself. I made over both rooms, but only shared Jax’s on the blog. We went with white walls and black trim in here and I think it looks pretty awesome.

Teen Boy’s Black and White Bedroom

If you didn’t know already, I paint our front door a new color about every year, and this year I painted it from Red to White. I wonder what color I’ll paint it next year?

In October I painted the walls in our dining room Blue. I love how it pops against the white wainscoting and trim.

New Blue Walls in Dining Room

As soon as I was finished painting the dining room blue, I got started on painting our living room brown. Adding color to these walls changed our home so much. I kept finding myself saying, “it’s a feeling not a color” because it all felt so much better than ever before.

And then basically right after I painted the living room walls brown, I painted our kitchen walls Green. I put together a color scheme for our home and want to try to stick to it. We’ll see if I do this coming year.

So there you have it, Our home’s top 10 projects of 2022. I can’t wait to see what I change up in the new year. I’m sure it will involve a few more layers of paint. Ha! but we all know I’m not joking.

Thanks for sticking around this year, and I hope that you will continue to stop in during the next new year.
