About

Hello, Welcome to The Wicker House. My Name is Emily and I’m Happy to have you here.

I live in a small country town in Idaho with my husband, two teen boys, a Great Dane named, Stormy, and 34 house plants.

Together we live in a cute cottage home that was built in 1924. We have lived in our home since 2013. I wrote up a fun blog post about Why we choose this house, which you can read more about HERE.

I have a love for interior design and home decor and so that is the reason for this blog. I enjoy decorating our home for the different holidays and seasons and so this blog is my place where I get to share my simple decorating ideas and budget friendly tips with you.

Here are just a few images that I have taken from around our home, but if you would like to see more of each of the rooms, please use the main menu bar of this blog to search for more.

I refer to my decorating style as, Coastal, Cottage, Farmhouse because those are the three styles that I’m always naturally drawn to.

You can find lots of Nautical touches around our home because I have such a huge love for the Oregon Coast. To move there would be a dream come true, but until then, I just pretend that I already do.

Besides decorating our home, I also enjoy coming up with fun DIY’s and Craft projects. Most of my crafts involve recycling/reusing things around the home, like this flower pot for example that I made using denim scraps from some old worn jeans.

Another example are these throw pillows that I sewed out of some old rock t-shirts. Be sure to check the Main Menu Bar at the top of this blog to search through so many more creative projects like these.

Not only do I like to work with what I have for creating crafts, I also try to think of new ways to make home improvements without spending a lot of money. Usually the answer is always Paint. I’m a big believer in the saying,

“if you don’t like something about your house, just paint it!”

I’ve painted a lot around our home, including tile. Check out this post to learn more.

I’ve also once painted a Chandelier! See my Rustic Beach House Chandelier Makeover HERE.

And then on occasion, I like to share recipes that we’ve tried and liked. Usually my recipes, like everything else I do, are just something we’ve thrown together on a whim and it just happened to turn out good. Like this Stuffed Biscuits and Gravy idea that my husband came up with. Delicious & Genius 🙂

I also love to whip up some refreshing cocktails … and then sometimes I will even remember to share the recipe with you. Citrus Margaritas anyone?

Again, you can find more recipes in the Main Menu Bar of this blog, along with anything else you may be looking for.

If you’re looking for something but can’t find it, just ask, and I’ll be happy to help you.

You can email me at thewickerhouse@yahoo.com or come chat with me on Facebook or Instagram.

I would also LOVE to have you follow along on Pinterest, and be sure to PIN anything you come across on my blog that you may want to save for later.

And just one more thing, if you like my style, be sure to check out my SHOP MY FAVORITES Page because I keep it full of really great home decor.

Thank you so much for being here. I hope that you leave here feeling inspired in one way or another.

Emily

Emily, I just fell in love with you, and what a good wife and mother you are. I love to decorate, and today i have a beautiful home, and the money to buy anything i want. It is not fun though. I started out with nothing and the pride i got in making things, was the best. It is such an act of love to see a young wife and mother do the things you are doing. There are so many nowadays that do not care how things look, or care for there family, the way you do. You remind me of myself when i was young. I took pride in my first little trailer with the rent being $104. a month. I still like to do things like you, but will soon be 62 and have back problems, but i use to tear out the whole front of my yard and re-landscape it in a day. Anyway, i am living in the middle of nowhere, and my Captcha isn’t working. I cannot get into your site. I will have to call Apple and see what the problem is. Anyway, i want to tell you how much i know your husband and sons must love you. That drink your husband came up with looks delicious. I wish i could get on your site. I will keep trying. God bless you. Kathy Hall
