Top 10 House Projects of 2021

I love putting together these recap post at the end of the year. I never realize just how much our home changes in a year until I sit down to write one of these blog post. Today I have gathered 10 pictures of what I’d call my biggest home projects of 2021. I’m not going to count them down from what was the biggest or the most popular project, but instead I’m just going to share the projects in order of how they came to be.

So let’s begin. In February, I shared pictures of our living room that I had re-painted in a color called Titanium by Benjamin Moore. We also brought up our red section sofa from the basement which made our living room feel 10 times more cozy.

Also in February, I installed new Plantation Shutters to the two big front windows of our home. This is Hands Down the Best project of the Year!! My family and I love these shutters so much and the way they have improved the look of our home, especially from the outside, is just remarkable.

In early April I shared our latest Kitchen makeover. I had painted our kitchen cabinets red and then I also painted the walls the same color that is in our living room. The Red was a bold move, but it felt cohesive with the red couch in the living room.

Also in April, I moved these two white bookcases from our office into our living/dining room. It was an easy move and maybe not the biggest of projects, but I have to say, because these bookshelves are so large, they really made a grand statement in our home.

I ADDED BOOKSHELVES TO OUR DINING ROOM

In the beginning of May, I blogged about these art gallery walls in our office. Once I had removed the bookshelves from the room, I was left with a lot of wall space. And because I had closets full of frames and artwork just being stored away, I thought this would be the perfect opportunity to get them all out and put on display.

That month I also painted our front door Red. Since I had leftover red paint from the kitchen cabinets, I decided to use it to paint our front door. I paint our front door a new color almost every year and Red just felt right for this year.

And whenever I paint our front door, I always paint both sides of it, the interior side and the exterior side. I blogged two separate post about our door and so I thought I’d share about it twice here in this post as well. So even though our door is really just one project, I’m counting it as two; the interior project and the exterior project. 😊

RED DOOR

I know, I know, that was a lot of red that I’ve added to our home so far; The couch, the red kitchen cabinets, the red door. So to add a little contrast, in June I decided to paint our dining room chairs, including a couple of wicker chairs, hunter green.

Come Summertime, I shared a post about my Cottage Garden. And even though I just barely mentioned it in my post, it was actually a bit of a project for me to extend this garden bed in the front of our home. My mother-in-law gave me some stone pavers that she no longer wanted, so I took the pavers, laid them out to create another layer to my garden, and then I filled it all up with lots and lots of dirt. I can’t wait to add more plants to my garden this coming spring.

Then came September and I wallpapered a wall in our bedroom. Eeek, I’m still so so so happy with this Wave Wallpaper every time I see it it makes me smile.

The year is not even over yet, and I’ve already got a project or two in the makings for next year. Something really amazing is happening in our bedroom as I speak. Also, it looks like my boys are wanting their own rooms so there is going to have to be some shuffling around to make that happen….And I’m currently thinking that some Blue Paint would really showcase all of the trim and woodwork in our home…….

I hope that you will stick around to see what comes about our home in the coming year. And I would also like to say THANK YOU for following along with me this year. Your comments, Likes, and Shares really help me to keep going with these blog post. So Thank you again!
