Painting Wicker and Dining Room Chairs Hunter Green

The last time I shared pictures of our dining room, I had mentioned that I was thinking about painting our dining room table and chairs, but that I couldn’t decide what color to paint them yet. Well soon after that blog post, I got the idea of painting the chairs hunter green and so I just went for it. As for the table, I plan to put a fresh coat of white paint on it, but I’ll save that for another day.

I have two Wicker chairs at both ends of the table and four spindle chairs around the table. All of the Chairs were painted black before, but It’s been years since I had painted the chairs black and so the paint was starting to wear off and in need of some fresh paint.

I went to Lowes and picked up 8 cans of spray paint. I was thinking that the wicker chairs would each take two cans and that the chairs would each take one can. But in the end I only used six of the eight cans. So I was left with 2 full cans of the spray paint that I can use for another project and also keep some extra paint on hand for touchups down the road.

Rust-Oleum is my Absolute Favorite Brand of Spray Paint! It always covers so nicely. This Awesome color is Called, Dark Hunter Green.

I’ve written several blog post about painting wicker over the years, and my Number 1 piece of advice is to Always use Spray Paint to paint wicker. Spray paint gets into all of the weaves way better than a paint brush can.

Find my latest blog post about Painting Wicker HERE. There you can find all of my other tips and tricks for Painting Wicker. I love making over Wicker Furniture and I think wicker looks so great painted in all sorts of fun colors. It’s really a lot of fun and so rewarding to give new life to old wicker furniture.

But like I said, I didn’t just paint the two wicker chairs, I also painted our four spindle dining chairs. I also recommend using a spray paint on any furniture that has spindles because spray paint allows you to get all around the spindles nicer than a paint brush can.

This Dark Hunter Green color covered the chairs so nicely. It only took one or two go around the chairs before they were fully painted. I didn’t bother with a primer or a top coat. I just cleaned the chairs off good before I started and then I’ll keep a little spray paint on hand for touch ups down the road.

I’m super loving this color! This Dark Hunter Green just gives me Happy, Camp Style, Lake Cabin, Cottage Vibes. 😊 Yes, that’s a real thing…because I say it is. How would you describe this Green color? Does it give you a vibe?

To be honest, bringing the chairs back into our dining room really didn’t make that much of a difference. The color is still dark so the chairs don’t look all that different than how they looked before when they were painted black. The color change is not something that you notice right away. But once you look at the chairs up close then you can tell that they are painted green.

Other than the new color on the chairs, the rest of the dining room still looks about the same as when I shared it last time.

I will get around to painting the table one day. I’m still thinking just a fresh coat of white paint would be good. But We’ll see. I get inspired easily and may end up taking a whole different route. It was on a whim that I came up with the idea to paint the chairs hunter green. Sometimes I get an idea that even surprises myself.😊

Something that I shared on social media, but not yet here on the blog is this little tray that I painted while camping. My mother in law picked up a bunch of little wood trays from the dollar store and she brought them with her when we went camping last. It was a fun activity for her and I to paint the trays but my boys just threw some paint on theirs and called it good. Ha!

For my tray, I painted it white and then I used a ruler and pencil to mark my lines and then I painted colorful stripes on the tray to resemble a Hudson Bay Blanket.

I thought it turned out cute. I brought the tray home and placed in on our table to hold our salt and pepper shakers.

Another little thing that’s new in our dining room is this vintage metal camp/fishing stool. I picked it up from my neighbor’s yard sale for a dollar. I thought it looked cute sitting next to my newly painted green wicker chair.

And since we’re here in our dining room, I should also share these bookshelves that are in the room. I like to play around with the decor on the shelves and I tend to change them up often. This is how they currently look. When I shared this next picture on social media, I couldn’t come up with a good caption so I just said, “Shelf 1 and Shelf 2” Because of the fun numbers on the shelves. Well I got a response that said, “shelf 2” which made me smile. Someone must have thought I was asking which shelf they liked better, Shelf 1 …. OR Shelf 2. So perhaps I styled Shelf two a tad cuter than shelf 1. Ha!

I like displaying things that make me happy on my shelves. Sure, my happy may look different than your happy and that’s perfectly okay. That’s the way it should be. We all have our own Kind of Happiness.

Sorry, I kinda got way off topic again. I have a tendency to do that.

So What Do you think about my Dark Hunter Green chairs? Do you love this color too? If so, You should pick you up a can and paint something with it.
