I recently blogged about how I moved these two rope lights into our living room. (seen here) They were hanging in our Bedroom before that. I love these lights. They come in a set of two and are pretty affordable, see for yourself HERE. However they didn’t look like this before. I gave them a little makeover that I want to share with you today.

This is how the light shades looked before. Still Great! but I just felt like I wanted to give them a little more personality. Next to the marlin, the simple linen shades were complementary, but now that I took the marlin down and replaced it for a mirror, the lights felt a little plain.

All I did was go to my Ribbon and Trim stash and found a couple to try out. I first added the white boho fringe trim to the top and bottom of the shade. The two rows looked good, but I almost wished I had more of that trim to do a third row. Then I tried out the vintage brown and orange ribbon with lace trim in the center of the shade and I loved it. The brown ribbon looks very Holly Hobby to me. I think it’s sweet. You can find similar ribbons and Trim HERE.

I simply just pinned the ribbon and trim on with straight pins. This way I can easily remove it if I ever want to. I think the shades turned out really fun, they added texture and a cute touch to our living room.

I especially love the way they look lit up. Such a nice soft light. What do you think?
