Art Gallery in our Office/Sunroom

Just wait until you see what I’m about to share with you today! You are either going to Love it or think that I have lost my mind. 😂 But what matters is that my family and I love it. Okay, let’s move on.

You’re probably already familiar with our Office/Sunroom since I blog about it often. This is my favorite room of our home because of all of the windows and light that shines through. The Sunroom is located just off of the living room through a pair of antique french doors, original to our 1924 Cottage home.

Well I did a little EXTRA decorating in our Office/Sunroom and filled the walls up with art and framed pictures.

I was originally only going to hang pictures on that far wall, but after realizing how much art I actually own, I decided to just go for it and hang pictures on both walls.

ALL of this art, pictures, frames, and wall decor was just sitting in our hallway closet not being used. Sure, I pull things out of the closet here and there when decorating, but for the most part this was all just stored away. Then one day I thought to myself, “Why do I have all of this if I’m not even enjoying it?” So I decided right then and there, I was either going to hang it up on the wall or get rid of it. And That is how this Art Gallery all began.

I moved the two large bookshelves that were in here before into our Dining Room, Seen HERE. And then I moved this tall skinny bookshelf to this little insert wall on the other side of the room. I also turned the books on the bookshelf around so that you can actually read them. Before, the books were turned backwards so that you could only see the neutral color of the pages. I know that drove some people crazy, and I also realized that was not practical at all.

This room is where my boys play games on the computer and work on their homework. I’ll come in here sometimes and hang out on the daybed, but otherwise this room doesn’t get used a whole lot. It’s kinda the room for plants, and storage. But now, with all of the wall art It feels more like an art gallery. We all just come in here and stare at the walls for a little while and it makes us happy. 😃

If these walls could talk…… LOL! A lot of the artwork was done by my husband’s grandpa. I’ve also hang pictures of our grandparents, family members, and just pretty art that I’ve collected over the years. Remember this beautiful Lake Canvas Print that use to hang on our fireplace? I blogged about it HERE.

Now, if you are wondering if I laid it all out perfectly beforehand and carefully thought out each placement of each piece, then I need to tell you, No, I certainly Did Not do that. I started with a picture in the center of the wall and then just kept hanging pictures around it. I just made the whole thing up as I went along…..and trust me, there are plenty of extra nail holes in the walls for when I changed my mind about some of the placements. 😊

This room is just filled with so many memories. See the daybed? Well that was my husband’s childhood bed. I like to fill it up with pillows to give it that daybed look. This is something anyone could do if you have an extra twin size bed on hand…and I already know you have lots of extra throw pillows, because we all do, right?

I think that my mix-matched collection of pillows plays nicely with the rest of the mix- matched art.

This room is great for house plants. You can’t really tell from my pictures, but I have a lot in here. Most of my plants are in front of the windows.

It’s fun to come in here, relax on the daybed, and just look around the room because there is So Much to look at.

I already had this idea to hang pictures on the walls in here, when my husband, Jake mentioned that he’d like to have more pictures of his ancestries. Which I loved. But then after digging through old pictures of ancestries, we both decided to just stick to pictures of our grandparents, since we actually knew them and have fond memories of them.

Jake’s Grandpa was so creative that at lot of the paintings, cowboy art, and wood carvings, were all done by him. I can’t believe that I just had all of this stored away before where we never ever looked at it. It was really exciting to get it all out and up on display where it deserves to be.

I have pictures of my family and grandparents mixed in as well. What I love is that now whenever I come across a pictures I love, I can put it in a frame and add it to the wall, or switch out something else if necessary.

The long dresser on this wall holds mostly office supplies. On top of it we have this fun Alligator book ends that was a gift from my husband’s uncle.

The alligator book ends is keeping our family ancestries books in place. Both my husbands and my grandparents put together genealogy books that tell stories about our families. These are really special and so I’m glad to now have them out in the open to look at.

And one last pictures of our sunroom as I leave you today.

So do I dare ask what you think? Is it too much? 😂 I’ve never decorated so hard in my life. 😂

Just know that my family and I love it. It’s our precious memories and it’s wonderful to have them all out on display now, rather than hidden in the hallway closet.

I absolutely love your art gallery walls. And you’re right; it’s great to have on display all those pictures that evoke such happy memories. We’ve done that down our long, narrow hallway and our grandkids love stopping as they head down the hall to visit some of their history and to ask us to tell the stories behind the pictures.

That daybed is perfection too! I love the way you styled it. Are the walls painted grey? I don’t know if you remember the paint color but it is such a great backdrop for all the colors in your art, furniture and fabrics. Great inspiration and full of warm personality- thanks for sharing!
