I hung some beautiful new art up in our entryway, but what I’m most excited to share with you today is Where I got the art.
These are the two new photography images that I’ve just hung up on our living-dining room wall and I think that they are so beautiful to look at.
Any guesses where I got the prints from?

Well the answer is from a book that I got from a library book sale.
Yup, Our library was having a book sale one day where you could fill up a whole grocery sack full of books for only one dollar. And So I took full advantage of the sale and I filled my grocery sack full. This is a rather large book, but I made it fit. 🙂
This book is called California II. It’s a photography book with scenic pictures from all over California. The book was published in the 70’s but the artwork in it is still beautiful today. I was in awe flipping through the pages at all of the beautiful photos.
I would imagine that you could probably find a book similar to this one if you search book sales or thrift stores.
I just used a razor blade to carefully cut the pictures out of the book. I cut out all of my favorite pictures and laid them all out.

But I could only pick two pictures to frame and hang on our living – dining room wall. So how I ended up deciding on which two I liked the best was by leaning two images up against the frames at a time, stepping back, and choosing which combination I thought looked best in the room.
It was a tough decision because they all looked amazing. But I also realize that I can always switch the pictures out whenever I want.
In the end, these next two images are the pair that I finally decided on.
After I framed the images I decided to give the frames a light sanding with my hand sander. I rough the frames up a bit to give them a worn look. If you take a close look at the image above, you’ll see how the frame on the left makes the picture stand out more all because of the sanded edges.
Just a little tip of mine for framing art. If you lightly sand your frames it may make your photos stand out more. I also just love that distressed look. You can also tell by this little white bench that I painted one day, and then once it was dry I took my hand sander to it to rough it up. I guess I just prefer that aged look rather than new. What about you?
The Picture on the left says it’s a photograph of a Reconstructed Chapel at the 1812 Russian outpost of Port Ross State Historic Park.
And the Picture on the Right say’s its a photograph of Summer fogs shroud Sitka spruce and the Del Norte coastal headland along Yurok trail, Redwood National Park.
You may have also noticed the new paint color on these walls. I painted them in Titanium by Benjamin Moore (same color as the rest of the living and dining room) And then I hung the coat rack that I made out of an old piece of wood, that already had metal label on it, and that I added small hooks to. I love how perfectly the wood from the coat rack matches the antique bakers rack. The two next to each other was just meant to be. Agree?
