Mother’s Day Tablescape

Hello and Happy Mother’s Day. I hope that you are all having a wonderful day today. I’m just sitting down relaxing after a lovely big lunch that my husband, Jake, made special for his mom and I.

Jake made us his delicious bourbon marinated chicken, with a side of corn salad, along with his yummy spinach artichoke dip. Jake is an excellent cook and I really should share his recipes here on the blog more often, but truthfully, I just sit back and relax while he cooks, so I’m not even sure how he does it all. 😉

Today while Jake was doing all of the cooking, I set a pretty little tablescape to make our lunch feel extra special for this mother’s day.

Setting a pretty table really does make an occasion feel more special and it’s something that I really enjoy doing.

I removed one of the leaves to the table to make the table smaller. This table actually has four leaves that go with it and so it can become quite large if needed for larger gatherings, but I thought it would feel more quaint to make the table smaller for today’s gathering, so I simply took it out. Plus, my tablecloth was too short at first, so by removing one of the leaves it made the tablecloth fit perfectly.

I used an old rusty metal lantern as the centerpiece and added a flameless candle to it for ambiance.

My place settings first started off with a copper charger. These chargers are a DIY that I did years ago. I had just spray-painted some dollar store pizza pans with copper spray paint and they turned out great!. I then layered the chargers with a white dinner place, and a small vintage dish that I bought second hand years ago.

My table setting is pretty simple, but it still felt special. I don’t like to crowd the table too much – you gotta always leave plenty of room for the food.

I also like to add throw pillows to our dining chairs to make the seating more comfortable.

I love these pillows, I picked them up HERE from Amazon and they are such a Great price too!
