In MY LAST POST, I shared how I moved two bookshelves from our office into our Dining room. So with the move of the bookshelves, I then needed to find a new place for this antique bakers rack shelf. Turns out I had the perfect spot for the rack in this little corner of our Living Room.
I always get a lot of comments about this wood bakers rack shelf. It was an antique that I picked up years ago. The rack is so old and fragile that I actually have metal brackets in the back of it to keep it from falling apart.
I love the feeling that this wood rack brought into our living room. The shelf instantly made our living room feel even more warm and cozy.
As far as styling the rack, this nautical/Americana look just naturally came to be. I shopped our home (like I always do) and of corse I found lots of nautical/coastal/beachy decor items. And then as soon as I brought in the flag, the flag instantly added that traditional Americana style. The Red, White and Blue color scheme plays well with our red sectional couch.
On the top shelf we have a driftwood sailboat that I made Forever ago. You can find a really old tutorial about how I made the Driftwood Sailboat HERE.
I had the most fun styling the second shelf. I started with an elk antler, then mixed in cream candles, glass boat floats, a shark skull, some starfish and a glass bowl with nautical rope and a candle inside. I love to create little vignettes like this that feel very collected and treasured.
I kept the third shelf simple with a white wicker lantern and an extra knit blanket. And then lastly, on the bottom shelf we have some board games and books just for fun. The “Life is better in Flipflops” is a fun door stop that I picked up years ago from Pavilion Gift.
The Candles throughout the space are all flameless and they came with a remote, so at night I like to turn them on to create a relaxing, cozy glow.
So what do you think of the bakers rack in our living room? Have any questions? Let me know in a comment below or come chat with me on Facebook or Instagram.
