Orange Christmas Dining Room

I did some Christmas decorating in our dining room….using the color Orange 🧡 I didn’t plan on decorating our dining room for the season in orange. I mean really, Orange? That’s not a color that I typically use for Christmas. But it just sort of happened that way and I unexpectedly kinda like it.

And for whatever reason, I think it works. Our dining room still feels very festive and Chrismtasy decorated in the color orange.

It all started with this orange Pom Pom and Jingle Bell Garland that I just made and Blogged all about HERE.

When I made the pom pom garland I was thinking that I would hang it on our mantel, but in the end it just didn’t fit in with the rest of the decor and so I hung the Pom Pom garland across the room on a mirror in our dining room.

From there, I added a gold lantern and a bowl full of oranges. I once heard that if you use a color in a space you should repeat it three times. Now I’m not usually a rule-follower when it comes to decorating, but I can see how repeating the color orange three times really helped to tie our dining room together.

I also have a plaid throw blanket on the wicker chair in here that has that exact same orange color in it. I like to add cozy pillows and blankets to my dining room seating because it’s nice to cuddle up while enjoying a cup of coffee and some breakfast in the morning.

And really, nowadays this dining room table serves multiple purposes. It’s our school room, craft room, and dining room all in one. So all the reason to make it as cozy as possible.

I still plan to stick some whole cloves into my oranges to add a nice natural seasonal scent to our home, but at the moment we are all out of cloves and so I need to pick some up the next time I’m at the grocery store.

I think that it would also be fun to make a garland of dried orange slices to also hang up on the mirror. So who knows, perhaps I’m not finish decorating in here quite yet after all.

Decorating, it’s kinda a never ending thing at Christmas time for me. Are you the same way? I just keep decorating our home up until the actual day of Christmas.

So what do you think of the orange? Does it work for holiday decorating or does it seem out of place?

My husband says that he likes that each room in our house has a different Christmas theme and I have to agree with him. It’s fun to switch things up from the same old same old.
