Printed Free Art

I recently discovered a Website that allows you to download FREE Public Domain Images for Personal or Business use. I picked out this tropical flower print, downloaded it, had it printed at Walgreens and the I framed it using a DIY fabric mat. Keep Reading to learn more!

So the website I recently discovered is called, RAWPIXEL and you can sign up HERE. It’s free, but they do offer a Premium membership that opens up even more art to download and creative tools. I’m currently just using the free version and have found a TON OF ART Available. Here are just a few images that I have saved on a Pinterest Board, but I actually have hundreds saved. When I go to the Website, I typed in search words like, Nautical, tropical, palm, seashell, boats, ocean, orchids, parrots….. etc. and I was blown away with what was available. If coastal isn’t your thing you could search other words and see what you find. It’s a lot of fun, I’m telling you.

And then because I am a Rewards Member at Walgreens, I received an email with a Free 8×10 Pictures Print discount Code. So I figured this was the perfect time to get one of these images printed. It took me a little while to finally decide which image to get printed because I had so many favorites saved.

Note: You can print these images off at home if you have a printer. Our printer is a bit of a hassle to use, so it was easier for me to have Walgreens print it. You can also print them off large poster size too if you want. Walgreens and Walmart are my personal go-to places for prints.

Walgreens Photo prints their pictures out in an hour and then you can just pick them up at your nearest store. My Walgreens only offers the Glossy finish, If I wanted Matte then I would have to get it shipped to me.

The only issue I had which was totally my fault, was that I didn’t go in and edit the picture before I added it to my cart. So some of the image got cut off which I was bummed about because this particular image had writing on the top and bottom. But Hey, it was free so I really can’t complain. But just something to keep in mind for next time.

I cut off the white boarder on the sides of the picture and then grabbed a frame that I had on hand. This picture frame was bought at the dollar store years ago. I love when a frame is larger than the picture itself. I could have framed this image in a 8X10 frame and it would have looked fine, but by putting it in a large 11X14 frame, with a mat, made this image look so much better.

I used fabric as a mat. This is something I do all of the time. I just covered the back piece of cardboard of the frame with a white Muslim fabric. I wrapped it like a present and used duct tape to hold it in place.

Then I just rolled up some pieces of duct tape and attached it to the back of the picture. I then laid the picture centered onto the fabric and pressed down.

And lastly I put it in the frame and was pleased with how it turned out.

I found a place for my new art on the top of a shelf in our living room. I love a layered look, so the picture is layered over another piece of art that I have that is layered over an old window frame. Seashells and other coastal decor complete the look.

I still can’t believe that this art was completely FREE! and not just the art but the print itself. Thanks Walgreens! Be sure to get on Walgreens rewards list to get their awesome coupons emailed to you and keep your eyes out for free 8×10 prints!
