Pineapple Frankfurter

I made this for my lunch today and it was so delicious that I figured I had to share it with you. If you love Pineapple then this recipe is for you! The sweetness of the pineapple next to the savory of the frankfurter is a match made in heaven’s kitchen.

A Frankfurter is a like a hot dog but better because Frankfurters are made entirely of pork whereas hot dogs can be made with whatever. I prefer frankfurters over hot dogs, but a hot dog would work for this recipe as well.

So you first want to slice X’s into the top of the frankfurter with a sharp knife but don’t cut it all the way through. Jake taught me this trick and it not only looks super fun in the end, but it somehow cooks the meat better and makes it plumper and juicier.

Next, Heat up some butter in a fry pan over medium heat. Add your frankfurter and cover with a lid. After a minute or so, turn it over. Give it another minute or so to cook. Once it’s cooked and looks plump and juicy it’s ready.

On a hot dog bun, add a bit of pepper jack cheese (optional) and warm up in microwave. Next add Mayo, shredded lettuce, and chopped pineapple along with your frankfurter. Bigger buns might be better here because this thing is huge. I cut mine in half, and saved the second half for later.

Ingredience

  • Frankfurter or Hot dog
  • Hot Dog Buns – or Hoagie Buns
  • Pineapple – Chopped
  • Shredded lettuce
  • Mayo
  • 1 slice of Pepper Jack or favorite cheese (option)
  • Butter for fry pan
