It was a nice sunny weekend here in Idaho and so I thought I’d decorate our front porch for the holidays.
I was secretly hoping that it would snow overnight which would make our little cottage home look more like Christmas, but no snow yet. Any snow where you are?
So first of all, let’s talk about the door color because I know someone is going to ask. This color is called, Wythe Blue by Benjamin Moore. My front door is basically a different color every year which makes it super fun to decorate around every year at Christmas.
See All of the different colors our front door has been painted HERE. See what exterior color our house is painted in HERE.
Hanging on our front door is this adorable wreath that I quickly made.
To make this wreath, I just tucked mini trees into a faux pine wreath that I already had. I just wrapped the pine branches around the trees to hold them in place and called it good. If the mini trees Do start to fall off, I will wire them on but it’s working for now. And then I just hung a cute piece of ribbon on to the wreath. Super simple but I think the wreath turned out cute. What do you think?
I bought the mini trees from the Dollar store years ago and I have loved to decorate with them in different ways every year since. I’ve used the trees in jars as snow globes, Mixed them into village scenes, scattered them along a shelf, and now the trees are hung in a wreath.
Next to the door is an old white stool with a terra cotta pot and a dying plant. But the plant is not all of the way dead yet, so I choose to leave it. 😉
On the ground next to the stool are a couple of birch tree logs. I love the look of birch and think that the logs add a warm cozy touch to our porch.
But my favorite part of the whole porch are the two vintage skis next to the front door.
I found these skis up in the rafters of my grandma’s garage after she had passed away. I love to bring these skis out every Christmas to remind me of her. I don’t think that my grandma ever skied but I still think of her when I see them because they came from her house.
The skis are so old that the white paint is almost all flaked off on them and just look at the very old rusted metal and worn leather on them. Can you even imagine? These skis just feel so nostalgic to me.
And then on the two front stoops on our porch I added these beautiful Christmas evergreen bushes to the black flower pots.
These faux evergreen bushes are from Balsam Hill . I got them a few years ago.
They are so pretty with the heavy snow flocking and large pinecones.
In the windows I have some hanging snowflake lights that I decided to hang on the inside. These lights are also from Balsam Hill a few years ago, but I don’t think that they are still available to purchase.
Also in the windows you can spot our Great Dane dog, Stormy.
My boys told me that these pictures of Stormy look super creepy. HA! But I think she looks cute. However my dirty windows are creepy. I really need to clean those.
So what do you think about my Cozy Cottage Christmas Porch?
It still needs some snow, right? wouldn’t that make it all the cuter?
