Briiing! Briiing! Briiing!
Does anyone else miss telephones?
I do.
I grew up talking on a telephone.
No text.
No e-mail
No Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Face-Time, None of it.
All we had was a telephone.
I would talk to my friends for hours on the telephone.
With the long spiral cord, leading all the way up into my bedroom.
And did you know they use to make little tables just for your telephone?
You would put the telephone on the top shelf and all of your phone books, address books, and note pads below on the bottom shelf. Older telephone tables even have a built in seat to sit down on.
So cute right?
In yesterday’s postI shared our Cozy Christmas bedroom, Did you see it? If not, you can head over when your done reading this post. Next to our bed is this sweet little side table, that I think could possibly be a telephone table, Do you know, am I right?
Let’s just say that it is, okay?
Well, I gave it a makeover and I wanted to share it with you today.
I picked this little table up at a yard sale over the summer. I’m pretty sure I only paid a buck for it, maybe it was even free, I can’t remember, but the sellers thought it was a piece of junk and had it sitting out on their porch.
I thought it was adorable, even with it yellow and chippy.
But because I wanted to use it as a side table in our bedroom, I knew that it needed to be painted white. I just sanded it really good first with my mouse sander, and then I slapped on some white paint.
Really, I slapped it on. I’m not a perfectionist. I don’t need it looking brand new, I just wanted it white. After two heavy coats of paint. it was perfect! I then sanded the edges lightly to let some wood show through.
The size is just right for a side table.
It also goes so well with the other side table in the room
Sorry, don’t mind my ugly lamp cord, really wish I hid that before I took the picture 🙂
Thanks for stopping by,
Emily
P.S. Don’t forget to come back tonight to link up at the Create – Share – Inspire link party. We can’t wait to see what projects you have been working on.
Adorable and perfect for next to your bed like that!
It mismatches the other table in the most perfect way!
Thanks for showing interested to write this type of articles. keep explore the ideas like this.
This is great in so many ways. Ingenuity, steady hand, a feeling of balance with mismatched tables. I looked closely at the height of your bedside tables with the lamps and now I know how to fix the visual disconnect in mine and how to fix it. I need to put some books under my lamp to match the height of the other night table. Thanks so much.

You are resourceful, ingenious, and produce beauty. I looked closely at the mismatched tables. I have the same arrangement but it has always been visually off. Now I know to fix the height of the lamp on my side of the bed. Thanks
