Denim Placemats

Last week I shared my Fall House Tour, and you may have noticed the denim placemats that I had on the dining room table.

I thought the denim fit in perfectly with the rustic fall look I was going for.

I originally shared how to make these denim placemat Hereat Ella Claire.

In that post, along with the instructions on how to sew them, I shared a fun festive patriotic outdoor tablescape that I created for the 4th of July.

But because denim is so versatile you can really use theseplacematsall year long.

The fun part about these placemats are the side pockets. For my patriotic look, I stuck American flags and red flatware in the pockets, and here for my fall look, I added feathers and wood handled knives.

All of the instructions to make these denim placemats can be foundHERE.

They were fairly simple to make, I basically just cut up a bunch of old Levi’s and sewed them onto a thick piece of fabric that I had cut out using another placemat as a template.

It was a nice way to use up all of the old pairs of jeans I had laying around.

And with two boys…I had collected quite a lot.

So this project cost absolutely nothing to make, but I think they turned out great.

I do think the pockets are the best part.

These babies have been washed a few times, and every time they fray just a little more, giving them that great worn look.

So the next time you get a hole in your jeans, or your kids outgrow theirs, think about turning them into some cute denim placemats.

Thanks for stopping by today,

Emily

Cute idea! It does however, make me a bit uneasy placing a "dirty" feather next to a piece of flatware.
