In Part 1 of this project, I shared how the idea for my DIY denim couch first came about and how I began attaching the denim to the frame and cushions. In Part 2, I finished covering the couch by adding denim to the back cushions, which really helped the whole piece come together. Honestly, I didn’t expect there to be a Part 3, but after making a few changes and adding some denim trim details, the couch has evolved a little more since I last shared it. I thought it would be fun to show you the small updates and finishing touches that made this one-of-a-kind couch feel even more complete.

In Part 2, I did mention that the only part of my couch that I wasn’t loving was this little pocket section that I had added when I was finishing up the couch but getting low on denim pieces.

And after living with the couch for awhile, I knew that I was going to want to switch this piece out. It just did’t look right and it felt a bit tacky, in my opinion.

So I removed the pocket area and found a better piece of denim to replace it with. Now I just want to mention that it was a little difficult to remove. Which was a really good thing, because it reassured me that the hot glue was attached very strongly and should not be an issue later on.

The piece of denim I replaced it with was a darker wash and actually came from the same pair of jeans that sits just underneath the new patch. Because of that, it now looks like one intentional darker section rather than a random light-wash pocket standing out on its own. The new piece blends in much better and feels more cohesive with the rest of the couch.

And the new added piece still had a pocket, which is so perfect for holding a phone. I mean, I think every couch could use a phone pocket, don’t you?

I still can’t believe I pulled this couch off with only using Hot Glue! It’s a little unbelievable! Had I known this couch would be so easy to just hot glue denim pieces on to it, I would have done this years ago.

So when I was digging though my denim scraps to find a better piece to replace the part I didn’t like with, I realized that I had a lot of long seams pieces. I thought I would see what it could look like if I added them here or there.

I added five of these seams in different areas of the couch. The seams added a clean finishing touch. Below is one strip that is darker in color and it helped it add a little bit of darker denim to this lighter denim section.

Same goes for this area as well.

The trim especially finished up this back arm piece nicely.

And then a strip of trim went over the new denim patch that I just added to give it a little more personality and to brake up the darker color. One. last piece of trim went over the arm piece adding a little bit of texture.

I must admit, the little change that I made here with switching out that corner piece made such a bit difference, I wasn’t happy with how it looked before, but I am now.

I don’t like to use very many throw pillows now, since I love the way the denim couch looks on its own. I don’t want to have throw pillows covering it up. But I absolutely love how this tropical Denim pillow looks on the couch. If you remember, I Won this amazing Pillow in a Giveaway years ago and blogged more about why it is so special in THIS BLOG POST HERE.

After these last few little changes, I can honestly say this DIY denim couch finally feels complete. What started as a simple idea to cover a worn couch turned into one of the most fun and creative projects I’ve ever done. I love all the different shades of denim, the textures, and the little details that make it completely one of a kind. It’s comfortable, unique, and full of character, and I’m so happy to have it in our home.
