Who knew that adding a larger rug to a room could make such a big impact in so many ways? I recently received a new rug for our living room from Two Pages and I’ve been amazed at the difference it made in the space. From the way it grounds our furniture to how it makes the whole room feel bigger and more pulled together, the change was immediate. Today I’m excited to share how this rug completely transformed our living room.

Before: Our Living Room with a Smaller Rug
Before adding the new rug, I had this denim rug in the living room. I actually love this rug, especially paired with my denim couch, but the size just wasn’t right for the space. I believe it’s about a 4×6, so it mostly just sat in the middle of the room and didn’t fit under the couch at all. Because it was too small, the furniture didn’t feel anchored the way it should. I’ll definitely find another spot for this rug somewhere else in the house, but for our living room it simply wasn’t the right fit.

Choosing a Larger Rug
When choosing a new rug for our living room, I had a few important things in mind. I wanted something that would not only look good in the space but also work well for everyday living. Here were the key things I was looking for:
- A larger size. The rug needed to be big enough to fit under our couch so it could properly anchor the seating area.
- A neutral color. I didn’t want bold colors or busy patterns because I want the denim couch to remain the star of the room.
- The right shade. Not too light where it would easily show dirt, but not too dark where it would blend into our dark wood floors.
- Soft but textured. I wanted something that would add natural texture while still feeling soft underfoot.
- Durable. Our living room is a high traffic space, so the rug needed to be something that would hold up well over time.
When I came across THIS Lucia Textured Striped rug from TwoPages, it checked every one of those boxes.

Why I recommend Two Pages for curtains and home accents
I was generously gifted this rug from Two Pages, but it isn’t my first time working with them. A while back they also sent me the blue and white pinstripe curtains you see in our home. Even though these items were gifted, I would honestly purchase them again in a heartbeat. After receiving and reviewing their products, I’ve become such a fan of the brand because the quality truly stands out.
My curtains are the Celia Striped Curtains in Light Blue Pinstripe, and I chose the back-tab style with a light privacy lining. I have them hanging in our living room, dining room, and kitchen, and they are one of the things I get the most compliments on in our home. The fabric is beautiful, the construction feels high-end, and they hang so nicely. Because I’ve already had such a great experience with their curtains, I knew I could expect the same level of quality when choosing this rug.

First Impressions of the Lucia Textured Stripe Rug
Honestly, my very first impression was just how big this rug felt. I’ve never had an 8×10 rug in our home before, and when I unrolled it in the living room it seemed even larger than I expected. Seeing it laid out across the floor immediately made me realize how much coverage it would give the space.
After noticing the size, the next thing that surprised me was how soft it felt. The rug is made from a New Zealand wool and polyester blend, and it’s incredibly comfortable underfoot. It actually feels much softer than it appears in photos, which was a pleasant surprise. From the moment I unrolled it, I was genuinely impressed with both the size and the texture of this rug.

The Color in Person vs. Online
One thing I do want to mention is that the color of this rug appears a little different in person than it does on the website. Online it looks more like a darker brown, but in real life it has a beautiful sandy beach tone that fits perfectly with the coastal feel of our home.
The rug also has subtle stripes and a lot of natural variation between lighter and medium shades of tan and brown, which is really beautiful.

The Texture and Quality
From a distance, this rug almost has the look of a sisal, jute, or seagrass weave, which is a style I’m always drawn to because it adds so much natural texture to a room. However, I’ve owned jute rugs before, and while they look beautiful, they aren’t always the most comfortable to walk on. They can feel rough underfoot and sometimes shed little fibers or dust.
This rug gives you that same beautiful woven, natural texture but in a much softer version. As I mentioned earlier, it’s a New Zealand wool and polyester blend, and it feels incredibly soft under your feet.

The backing is made from a durable canvas, and the rug is designed for high traffic areas, which makes it a great option for homes with kids or pets. It has the texture and style of a natural fiber rug but with the comfort and durability that makes it practical for everyday living.

How the Rug Grounds the Room
Our sectional couch has three pieces, and without a rug underneath it, the sections always had a tendency to slide around. Now that this larger rug sits beneath the couch, everything stays nicely in place. That alone was one of the main reasons I had been wanting a bigger rug for so long, and it paid off even better than I imagined.

We actually have two couches in our living room, and it’s amazing how this rug fits comfortably under both of them. Instead of the furniture feeling like it’s floating in the room, the rug creates a defined space that brings everything together.
It also helps visually section off the living room from the entryway, which makes the space feel much cozier and more intentional than it did before. The rug truly gives the room a grounded place to gather and relax.

A Perfect Match for our Denim Couch
After I finish up today’s blog post, I’m going to share another blog post about my denim couch. You can Catch Part 1 of my DIY Denim Couch HERE, but since that post, I have completed the Denim Couch and will be sharing more about it in a part 2 soon.
I have always loved the colors blue and brown together. In the Coastal world they call this color palette, Surf and Turf. I also think these colors go well in a country Style. You could even name it; Denim and Rope.

Why this rug works so Well in our Home
This rug really couldn’t be any more perfect for our Living room. It completely changed the whole look of our living room is so many ways. The room now feels bigger than it did before, it feels more pulled together, it has a softer color palette the feels relaxed and soothing, and it’s definitely way more cozier with a soft texture under your feet when you walk on it. I absolutely love this rug!
