Decorating with Fresh Cut Irises in the Dining Room

Irises are my husband’s favorite flower and so I plant more of them in our garden every year. Some years we have better luck with them than others and this year, this particular purple iris was overflowing and so I cut some off to bring indoors. I placed them in a pitcher and put them in our dining room next to a sunny window.

White Pitchers are my go-to for arranging fresh flowers.

I love to collect large ceramic pitchers to use as flower vases. I just love the cottage look of having fresh flowers in white pitchers. I’ll link some at the end of this post if you are interested. I always think flowers look prettier in white pitches oppose to clear vases, but that is just my personal preference.

A Lucky Free Curbside Score: A RL Console Table

I’m not sure that I have shared this area in our dining room in awhile, but I moved this wood table under the window in between my two wicker chairs. I picked up this console table from my neighbor’s curb and I was even more surprised to see the label inside of it that says it’s Ralph Lauren. The table fits this area perfectly and it’s nice to set plants on it to soak up the sunshine.

This table does need a fresh new coat of stain, but for now, I have a large tray on top of the table to sit under any plants that I place on top of it.

A Tropical Corner with Wicker and Plants

This area in our dining room always looks so tropical to me. It must be the mix of brown wicker and tropical plants. I have my collection of wicker trucks and picnic baskets stacked up to the side and then the two wicker chairs that have sat here for a long time now, and because this is a sunny spot my tropical plants always like it in here.

I like to mention these shutters every time I share pictures of our windows because they have been so wonderful. I’ve had these shutters for years now, and I still think they are the best. I blogged more about these shutters in a blog post HERE.

Mixing Coastal and Country Styles

My home has such a mix of Coastal & Country styles, so yes, you will find tropical plants, seashells, and lots of blues mixed in with cowboy paintings, cow skulls and a lot of horse decor. It’s just the decor that I am personally drawn to.

Here are a couple pictures of the Irises in our front yard. We usually have more irises on the other side of the house, but for whatever reason they did not bloom this year. We also have more irises in our backyard and like I said, I keep planting more every year. They don’t all bloom though, so it’s something that I need to keep working on.

This plant was so full and some of the irises were hanging down, so I had no problem cutting them off to bring inside. They really have brightened up our dining room so much and look so pretty.

Do you have Irises in your garden? Do you ever bring them inside to enjoy? I hope that this blog post has inspired you in some way or another today.
