Decorating the Dining Room with Fresh Lilac Branches

One of my favorite ways to decorate for spring is by bringing fresh flowers indoors. I recently clipped a few beautiful branches from my mother-in-law’s lilac tree and placed them in a white pitcher in our dining room. The soft purple blooms and fresh greenery instantly brightened the space and made the whole room feel light, airy, and full of spring.

Can you smell them through the picture? They are so heavenly! 😉

I’ve tried growing a lilac bush in my own yard several times, but haven’t had much luck. My neighbors even have a lilac bush in their backyard next to our fence, and the lilacs seriously only grow on their side. Weird, right? And it’s really too bad because Lilacs are one of my favorite spring blooms.

This is my Mother-in-law’s lilac bush, isn’t it pretty? We don’t think it has ever been this full of lilacs before. Because it was so full of blooms we didn’t feel bad cutting off some of the branches to place in both her and my homes.

Lilacs make the prettiest bouquets too! We had a vase sitting on her bird bath as we cut the branches, and I thought that this scene was so beautiful so I had to snap a picture.

Having a bouquet of lilacs in your home will make your house smell so amazing. I could smell these lilacs from down the hall, and it’s just the best smell ever!

I only wish that they would last longer so they could look like this for weeks.

You know, I just realized that I haven’t blogged about our dining room in a while, and so you might not have seen the artwork hanging in here yet. The two cowboy pictures were painted by my husband’s grandpa. My husband is the little boy riding on the horse with his grandpa, so cute! And then the barn picture was painted by someone else and my husband was the boy in that picture too. So they have some fun stories behind them. The cow skull was bought at an antique store years ago.

I just shared a blog post about my Toasted Coconut Banana Bread Recipe, and my Lilacs were featured in that post as well. When I shared it on Instagram, I made the comment, that I didn’t know which smelled better; the pitcher full of lilacs or the freshly baked banana bread. Both smelled amazing!

Do you have lilacs where you live? If so, I highly encourage you to bring some indoors if you haven’t already planned to 💜
