I have not one, but two spaces to share with you today! I gave our front porch and this little corner by the garage a little refresh, and I love how both areas turned out. But let’s start with the space by the garage, because this one ended up being my favorite of the two.
The Garage Entrance
I received two new Wicked Good Doormats to try from The New England Trading Company as part of a coastal collaboration. Lobster Rope™ Doormats are so cool! They are made from marine-grade rope by a small, woman-owned company in Maine. These doormats have quickly become one of my newest favorite things. I was so excited to style them that they ended up inspiring two little refreshes around our home.
Because these best selling doormats are made with marine grade rope, they are extremely durable, weatherproof, and waterproof, making them perfect for all four seasons. I love that they have a catch and release weave that allows dirt to pass through the mat, and if they do get dirty, you can simply spray them down with the hose. I love that these aren’t just pretty, they’re made to actually live outside and handle real weather.
I tossed out our old doormats as soon as these arrived. It’s nice knowing I won’t have to replace them every season! For the area by our garage, I chose the Silver and Sand Double Weave Doormat. I thought the colors would look especially pretty next to the green garage. These doormats come in so many beautiful colors, and some even have stripes.
For this little area by the garage, I first cleaned everything up since it had mostly become a place for gathering tools and dirt and wasn’t really being used. The white bench and old window were already here, but to go along with the coastal look of the new doormat, I added a couple of old wooden paddles, a bucket of driftwood, and an anchor wind chime.
There’s just something about the green garage, brown metal roof, white door, bench, and old window that gives this space such a casual coastal boathouse feel. I love how it turned out! And the doormat ended up being the inspiration for the whole new look and definitely the star of the space.

The Front Porch
Now let’s move on to the second space I updated, our front porch. I’m thrilled with how this space turned out too!
For this space, I hung a basket full of hydrangeas that I quickly put together for the door, planted some little yellow mums, and gave the porch an overall fresh new look.
For our front door, I went with the Spruce and Sand Double Weave Doormat. I love how closely the colors match our front door. They complement each other so nicely, and these are just such beautiful coastal colors.
I set out a pair of my water boots, which I thought would be a cute touch for these pictures. Since the doormat has such a pretty nautical feel, I wanted to play off of that a little bit. There’s also a small metal and driftwood whale ornament hanging from the wicker basket on the door. It’s just a little coastal touch without taking things too far.
For the door hanging, I actually went to Instagram and asked for your help! I had two options I was playing around with. The first was a wooden anchor, which gave the door a cute nautical look, and the second was this hanging basket of hydrangeas. The basket got the most votes, so that’s the one I hung up. But the anchor looked cute too, so maybe one day I’ll switch things up and put it on the door.
This hanging basket was so easy to put together. I picked up the basket at the thrift store from a free shelf, added a hook to the door, and filled the basket with faux hydrangeas. I also attached a little metal and driftwood whale ornament to the basket. And believe it or not, it’s all held together with duct tape!
Here’s a picture of the full porch. I haven’t shared it since spring, when I added the faux ferns to the front planters. I still really like the ferns, but I have to admit they’ve faded and turned a little blue from sitting in the hot sun. So if you bought these ferns too, or were planning to, I’d suggest putting them somewhere with a little more shade.
Whenever I share pictures of our porch, I get asked about the color of our front door. This time around, it’s painted in a color called Martini Olive by True Value Paint. And if you didn’t know, I’ve painted this front door eight different times! But I really love this color, and I especially like how the new doormat looks next to it, so I don’t have any plans to repaint it anytime soon.
I love how both of these spaces turned out, but I have to say, I think these new doormats may have just become my favorite little addition to our home.
