One of the top questions I get asked here on the blog is, “What is the name of the paint color on the exterior of your home?”And I always feel bad replying,“I don’t know, it was already painted prior to us moving in”. But today, I’m so happy to let you know that I now have a name.
The exterior color is a light grey with a hint of green. But it can look slightly different in all of my pictures due to lighting and if I’ve used any filters.
I also always get asked about the color of our front door, and that color is currently Benjamin Moore Wythe Blue. I know that for a fact because I painted it that color. I have also painted our front door in three other colors previously. You can see all of the other colors that our front door has been in This Post. The exterior color of our house is such a pretty neutral that it allows whatever color that is painted on the front door to really pop out.
Okay, so one day I received the dreaded email from a reader that asked, “What is the color of your house?” and I gave her the same answer that I always give, “I’m sorry but I don’t know” but then she asked, “Is it anywhere close to the color Titanium by Benjamin Moore? Because I’m thinking of using that color.” So out of pure curiosity, I took my Benjamin Moore Color deck outside and matched it to our house.
Titanium is the very bottom color pictured below.
Look at how close it is!!!
The colors Overcast and Halo are pretty close too!
I actually don’t believe that any of these colors are a true match, because looking at the old leftover paint in our garage, I believe that our house was painted in a Kelly Moore paint color, which is a smaller paint store that we have in our town. But the can in our garage is so old that the label is unreadable.
The above picture is where I compared the color to the back of the house and the below picture is where I compared the color to the front of our house. It’s amazing how much sunlight can switch up the color of paint.
