It’s that time of the year again, The time where I share a new Kitchen Makeover!!! 😂 Half joking here, I almost share a new Kitchen Makeover every year, but that’s a little bit of a stretch, since sometimes I keep my kitchen the same for 2 whole years in a row. But I do believe this is the 8th time I’ve made over our kitchen in the almost 11 years we have lived here, so…………… you get my point.
This New Kitchen makeover is my favorite one yet and who knows it may just stay the same for years to come……. I probably say that every time I make over our kitchen, but this time I think it really will be true.

What makes this latest kitchen makeover my favorite one so far is that this is the first time I have used wallpaper in here. I fell in love with THIS WALLPAPER as soon as I saw it at Serena & Lily. Isn’t it such a fun print?
I ordered one roll of wallpaper which gave me just enough to cover half of the room, so it’s mostly just in this nook area of our kitchen. I think just having the wallpaper on half the walls is perfect for this room. It may have been too much if I did the whole room because it is a pretty big room and a pretty busy pattern.
I painted the rest of the walls in a pretty blue that matches well with the wallpaper. This blue is Sherwin Williams, Falkland Blue (HGSW3316).
It always comes with such a surprise at how much a new paint color can change the whole look and feel of a room. Jake said this color with the wallpaper made our kitchen look like a Tropical Farmhouse. I absolutely Love that!
To See more of the previous looks, just Search “kitchen” here on the blog. By searching Kitchen you will also find more details of items in the room like These lights that I added rope to.
So After the new wallpaper, My second favorite thing in the room is this Awning that I just created and hung in our kitchen window. I love it so much!
I plan to write up a blog post about how I created the awning next, so keep an eye out for that if you are interested, but basically, I wrapped fabric around a curtain rod up top and a rod at the bottom. The rod and brackets on the bottom are ones that I picked up from the hardware store. They are the same rod and brackets that you would use in a closet to hang clothes on. I hot glued the fabric on and then rolled the fabric around the rods to give it a clean finish.
The beautiful blue and white striped fabric is also from Serena & Lily and can be found HERE. I used the same fabric on the bar stools that are also in this room.
*Serena & Lily Did not Sponsor this post, but they did give me a coupon code for sharing about their Sales which I used towards the wallpaper and fabric. With that said, all opinions are my own and I highly love and recommend Serena and Lily to you! 💙
Instead of the wood dowel that you would use in a closet, I used a PVC pipe instead. The reason why is because I had one on hand in almost the perfect size. I did have to take a few inches off which was really easy to do so with a hand saw, with the wood rod, I would have needed Jake to get out our bigger table saw which would have taken a little bit more work…..anyway, Again more about how I did the awning to come.
I just think the awning is such a cool alternative to curtains. The awning gave our kitchen a cute Bistro / cafe / bakery look. I’m not quite sure which word to use, but it’s definitely cute!
As I mentioned, I used that same fabric from the awning to cover these bar stools. I have reupholstered these bar stools so many times before because it’s so easy to do. I once wrote up a tutorial about how I reupholster the stools HERE. Basically all yo need is fabric and a staple gun.
Not only did I reupholster the bar stools but I also painted them brown. The stools were painted white before. I also plan to write up a blog post about the method I used to get this rich brown sometime soon. It involves paint and stain and it’s my new go-to method for achieving a mahogany wood look. I’m also going to share this same method used on Wicker too. So stay tuned for that.
I’ve talked about this before, but I have a huge love for dark brown woods. I think they look very tropical and give a Bahama / British Colonial / Bali look that I personally prefer over lighter woods. I do know that I’m outvoted on this one because I once did a poll on Instagram and most everyone voted for lighter woods over darker woods. What’s your vote?
Last year I stripped layers and layers of paint off of our stove mount and then I gel stained it in a dark coffee brown. (Blog post found HERE). So another reason for painting the stools dark brown is so that they would tie in with the dark stove mount. I love how it all came together.
Here’s an up-close look at the stove mount. I have also added the platter to the tile on the backsplash.
So any questions so far? If so, please leave them in a comment below. I think that’s about all I have to say about what’s new here, so I will continue this blog post with mostly pictures and not a lot of words. I took a ton of pictures and couldn’t decide which ones to post so I’m sharing most of them. 😊
Like I always say, Pineapples make the best kitchen decor.🍍
And lastly, a look into the dining room from the kitchen.
The rooms flow so beautifully together, especially with the dark brown floors that I gel stained and the blue painted chairs (Seen HERE).
See more of our dining room HERE. I gave it a makeover last year. I painted the walls in a vanilla color and the ceiling in a light blue and then hung up a coastal wall art gallery.
