Red Door

Fun Fact: Our Front door was painted Red when we first bought our home 8 years ago. Since then I have painted our front door 5 different times. But now this time, I decided to paint the door back to red. So our new red door actually feels quite familiar already.

Other Fun Facts: A Red Door Means “WELCOME” in Early American Traditions, and In Feng Shui traditions, a red door symbolizes welcoming energies. And if your door is Facing South (which ours is) then painting the door Red is supposed to be Lucky.

*I just want to Note that today was pretty gloomy and overcast outside and so the door appears a bit blotchy in my pictures, but just know, this isn’t the case in person.

So whenever I paint our front door, I always paint both sides of it; The interior side and the exterior side. In my last post, I already shared how the red door looks on the inside of our home and if you missed it, you can See that Post HERE.

And like I mentioned, I have painted our front door 5 times now! Here are all of the different colors our front door has been painted. To see more of each one just Search “DOOR” here on the blog. I may even put together a little blog post showcasing all of the different looks. It’s fun to see how much painting a door can change up the whole look of our home….inside and outside.

Paint Colors:

Colors shown above: 1. Night Scape by Valspar 2. Obsidian by Olympic 3. Smokey Eyes by Kilz 4. Wythe Blue by Benjamin Moore 5. Caliente by Benjamin Moore

Now, Whenever I share a pictures of the Exterior of our home I always get asked what color it’s painted in, and since our home was already painted in this color prior to us moving in I don’t actually know what the name of the color is…..However, I did find some pretty close alternatives and I wrote up a blog post about it HERE. One of those colors is called Titanium by Benjamin Moore, and that is Also the color that I have painted most of the interior of our home in too. Titanium goes really well with this door color which is called Caliente by Benjamin Moore.

I recently painted our Kitchen Cabinets in this same red color {SEEN HERE} I love how our Kitchen Cabinets turned out and so because I had some extra paint on hand I thought I’d just go ahead and paint the front door in this red as well.

A few things to mention on the exterior of our home: first are the Plantation Shutters in our windows. I installed these shutters earlier this year and they have made the biggest improvement to our home. We love these plantation shutters so so much. You can learn more about them in This Post.

The Second thing I want to mention is my new Corten Steel Planter Box. This Steel planter is made to purposely get a rust patina on in when left outside in the elements. I think this planter is so freaking cool and I blogged all about it in this post HERE.

And then I hung up our flag outside. The flag looks great next to the red door. I also want to get some more plants and red flowers for our flower beds and porch and I feel like I should also paint my flower pots. Any suggestion on what color I should paint the flower pots?

Our neighbors blue flower pots are fun, but I don’t want our neighbors to think that I’m copying them since they also have a red front door and a hanging flag 😂 LOL.
