Hello There! I’m guessing you love Nautical Decor too and that is how you found my blog post today. So Happy to have you here. I don’t know what it is about nautical decor, but it has always had my heart 💙 You too?
I found myself tinkering around this little corner of our dining room today and I’m happy with the new look so I wanted to share more about it with you today.
My decorating of this little corner all started by hanging up this old nautical thermometer. I’ve had it for years but it was being stashed away in a closet. I went looking for it after I was lost in thought about nautical decor. I’m sure I saw something somewhere that inspired me to go looking for this and hang it up but I really can’t recall what or where.
I thought this wall would be the perfect spot to hang it, right next to one of two corner hutches in our dining room.
After the thermometer was hung, I decided to switch some dishes around in this hutch. Most of these dishes were already in here, some I stole from the opposite hutch, but in the end, it left me with a new fresh new look.
These corner hutches in our dining room are one of my favorite features of our old 100 year old home. They just add so much cottage charm to our home.
They are also great for housing my ever growing collection of random dishes, like these whale salt and pepper shakers. Arn’t they cute? I’ll share some similar items to what I have in our dining room at the end of this blog post if you are interested in anything.
I’m debating on painting the inside of these hutches with a very light coat of very soft blue to make my white dishes pop more, but we shall see if and when I get around to do that.
Next to the hutch is one of my wicker chairs, I loaded it up with blue and white pillows and a throw to keep with that nautical look.
In this next picture is a peek at the picture ledges. In a recent blog post, I shared more of these ledges along with the rest of our dining room. You can visit that blog post HERE.
Sometimes I keep these hutch doors open and sometimes I close them. I love the look of both ways. When I closed this one up, I hung a blue and white stripe bag and a sun hat on the knob, thought it was a cute touch. So what do you think?
