My Tropical Style Mood Boards Using Canva

I was having way too much fun playing around on Canva today when I should have been working at my office job. 😂 Good thing my boss is also my Husband. I don’t think that I have ever mentioned that before, but yes, my husband is an attorney and I am his legal secretary. We work in a really small office, just the two of us and I love it for so many reasons… but also because I can get away with waisting time on the internet.

So for this top Mood Board, (Pictured above) I started with a blank Canva page (Instagram post size) and then started adding design elements of my favorite things. I guess I should back up a bit because I’m sure not all of you are familiar with Canva. Canva is a free online graphics design tool. You can use it to create social media post, presentations, posters, videos, logos and so much more. I love Canva and use it so much for blogging, so much in fact that I have upgraded to the pay version that opens up even more ways to be creative. If it sounds like something you might enjoy, be sure to check it out.

Next I went to Pinterest and searched for items like; Dark Wood Floors, White sectional couch, Zebra Rug. etc. I was mostly looking for products listed to buy. I then took a screenshot or saved those items to my computer. On Canva, after I opened up a blank design page, I uploaded my images and played around with their size and placement. Now because I have upgraded on Canva, I’m able to use a special tool called Background Remover, which crops everything in the picture but the subject item. (if you haven’t upgraded on Canva, you’ll just want to crop your photos the best that you can).

The Reason why I was inspired to create this mood board is because I started to realize that I am particularly drawn to certain design elements like, dark wood floors, tropical ceiling fans, white slipcover furniture, blue and white stripes….etc.. and so I wanted to bring to life what that would all look like together in a room. When I was finished, I was almost blown away. This is just so my Style! And to see it all grouped together in a picture, makes me a little more confidant with my design choices.

If this sounds like it would be fun to create with all of Your favorite design elements, give it a try and Have Fun with it.

After I was finished with that first mood board, I decided to create another one, this time for our bedroom. I have been wanting to do a little revamping in our bedroom and so this was the perfect way to set forth a plan. For this Canva Mood Board, I first uploaded a picture of our bedroom. Then I layered in the images that I found online. So here is our Bedroom before:

And here is our bedroom design board AFTER. Obviously, it’s not perfect, some of it doesn’t even make sense, but for me it’s very helpful in giving me a game plan.

What do you think of my bedroom vision board? I plan to hang some white curtains at the front and back of my bed, and then I have been eyeing this light green duvet cover a lot lately, and a white ceiling fan would be so perfect to have in the summertime.

Okay, I’m Back, I shared this blog post yesterday, But since then, I created one more design, so I figured I’d just add it here. These really are so fun to create. So in this next mood board, I uploaded pictures of our ceiling fan, curtains, red couch, seashell mirror, and coffee table to Canva, and Then I went to Serena and Lily and grabbed some of their pillows and rug to “try out” in our home. And well, now let’s just say that I really Really Really want to buy them now. They’re pretty perfect for our Living room. Keep in mind that the proportions are off, but this gives me such a great vision of how they would look in our home.
