I recently made over our fireplace….for like the 20th time, and I thought it might be fun to share a blog post with all of this fireplace’s changing looks. I love writing these types of blog post because it allows me to take a little trip down memory lane. I also thought that this blog post might be helpful if you too are wanting to switch up your fireplace, and if so, then hopefully you can leave here today with some new fireplace or mantle inspiration.

I was originally only going to share the bigger changes I’ve done to our fireplace over the years, but then looking back through the blog, I’ve decided to share some of my favorite changing mantel looks as well. I will put a link under each of the pictures where you can see more of each look or learn paint colors or other information.

Above is my latest fireplace look. I removed the wood planks, painted it green, and then added some bamboo stakes to give it a tropical-zen look. Below is how it looked prior. The wood planks have been up for years, but I have done lots of different looks to them. Keep scrolling to see for yourself.

What to hang on this mantel has always stumped me a bit, so I keep trying different things. You’ll see a range from an old window frame, framed art, mirrors (either round or tall and in various colors) and wreaths. It’s a large mantel so I always try to fill the space up with something big.

In these pictures you’ll also see a lot of living room changes. These walls have been painted many times of the years.

I think I have the most fun decorating the mantel for Christmas and for Halloween, but mainly Christmas.

On the surround of the fireplace we have a black stone tile but at one time I covered the tile in a faux brick peel and stick wallpaper. (this is the exact one I used, but there are so many other options available) It was a fun look but I eventually grew tired of it. I’ve actually been wanting to get a dutch Delft tile wallpaper (or something like THIS ) to add to it some time. We’ll see.

Pictured above is when I painted our fireplace a soft blue, and pictured below is when I painted it in a Green-Teal color. Neither of these colors lasted long. In fact, these were the only two blog post that showcased the fireplaces in these colors.

Here’s another look at the green fireplace. It was almost like I painted it just for Christmas, but then was over it by spring. Welcome to my world. 😂

I love an all-white look like in this next picture. I often wish for an all-white home, but when my house has been white in the past, it usually doesn’t last long before I feel the need to add color.

I also love the canvas print in this next picture. I remember ordering it to fit the space on our mantel perfectly. I still get it out and hang it back up from time to time.

At one time I turned the planks around to reveal the wood side of them. I also added a bit of stain to it and liked the rustic look. At that time I had painted the surround in a pretty grey color.

But before I painted it grey, I lived with it white and wood for a while, but then felt like there was too much contrast so I painted it gray to give it a softer look.

I’m sharing another picture of this look, because now looking back on it, I really like it. Perhaps one day I’ll came back to this way.

This next look is worth sharing twice too. I’ve used this image a lot in my blog headers.

That round bamboo mirror has been painted a lot over the years as well. Here it is green, but it’s also been white, grey, a natural bamboo, and now it’s currently stained a dark brown. What color will it be next? There’s no saying!

I thought this was so cute, how I added grasses from our yard to my mantel. I remembered that I was inspired to do this after seeing a display at Anthropologie.

Wanting a change, I once even took to my husbands work office, and borrowed this horse print. Now that I work in the office with him and hear all day long from clients how much they love this picture, I now feel guilty for this one time that I took it. It defiantly is a favorite.

This is my favorite Christmas Mantel that I have ever decorated!

And this would have to be my favorite Halloween Mantel that I’ve ever decorated.

Now we are going WAY back. And see, that’s the bamboo mirror when I first got it.

Before the bamboo mirror, I decorated a lot with this driftwood mirror that I had made. I kept adding more driftwood to the mirror to try and make it bigger,

This next picture made me excited for Spring.

Now Lastly, We get to the beginning of it all, Our fireplace the year we moved into our home in 2013

Which in my humble opinion, is also worth sharing twice. I love how I had styled it Way back when. So Beachy!
