Hey there! 🌙✨ I’m Emily, a Pisces ♓️—what’s your sign? Astrology has always intrigued me, pretty much ever since I started reading my horoscope in Seventeen magazine back in the ’90s. But it wasn’t until recently that I discovered that there’s so much more to astrology than just your Sun Sign and daily horoscopes. Do You Know About Birth Charts? I’ve been diving deep into mine lately (just ask my husband—I can’t stop talking about it!), and it’s been such a fun and fascinating ride that I had to share it with you.
Okay, I know this is a bit of a detour from my usual home decor posts, but I had to hit pause and chat about my latest obsession: birth charts.
You’ve probably heard of your Sun, Moon, and Rising signs, right? Turns out, that’s just the tip of the cosmic iceberg! 🌌 Once I realized how much more there is to discover, I fell straight down the astrology rabbit hole—and honestly, I’m loving every minute of it.
Now, I’m no expert (yet!), but exploring my birth chart has been such a fun mix of curiosity, patience, and “Aha!” moments. So, in this post, I’m sharing my go-to resources that are helping me to decode my chart—just in case you’re curious to explore your own cosmic blueprint. Let’s dive in! 🚀✨
Where to get a free birth chart:
There are several places where you can find birth charts online, but these are the two that I have used myself and would recommend to you.
*Before you get started you will need to provide Your Birthdate, Time of Birth, and City and State of where you were born. This is Crucial to get the most accurate reading. The Sun will be in your sign for the whole day, but your Rising sign (or Ascendant) changes every 2 hours so a precise time and location is necessary.
- AstroCharts.com – Very clean and simple website that is easy to read and understand.
- Upastrology.com – Lots of Helpful Information. I suggest opening this website on a phone rather than a computer because on a phone it gets straight to the point, whereas the desktop version is a little busier to navigate.

Save notes and organize all of the information you receive:
- SCREENSHOT All of the pages from your Birth Chart Reading. You Will be coming back to your chart again and again as you learn more.
- Save your Screenshots in your notes App where you can easily add more notes as you learn more. You could also write it all down in a journal, but I like Notes because you are able to copy and paste information from other sources as your research and learn more about your chart.
- Keep your notes organize. I have my screenshots first and then a list of my 12 houses Where I add notes that pertain to each one.
Help to Read Your Chart
Okay, yes, the picture above looks very complicated, and honestly it still does to me too, I have not learned what all of the lines mean. So what we are mainly focusing on at this point are the 12 houses. You will want to screenshot your list of houses and planets, depending on which website you use, it should look something like this:

Now this is where the fun Comes in! Researching what all of this means! I have discovered 3 different Sources that are now my go-to places to dive deeper into my chart. Here they are.
- ChatGPT – I love ChatGPT so much. In fact, it even helped me with my cover art to this post today. If you haven’t discovered the Pure Awesomeness of Chat GPT yet, then I suggest you download the app right now or open it up in your browser. All you need to do is type in a prompt like “What does it mean to have Gemini in my Second house?” and it will answer in they most helpful way. I then copy and save my ChatGPT answers in my Notes, or at least make some quick notes about what I just learned to refer to later.
- PINTEREST – My second go-to place to find answers is my preferred search engine, Pinterest. There are so many helpful graphics and articles to be found on Pinterest. Here is where I will search things like; Venus in Pisces, or Taurus Rising Aesthetics, or Personality traits of a Pisces Sun, or even, what does a Taurus Rising dress like?….I’m a total aesthetics person so I love just seeing mood boards and funny memes. Visuals are helpful in the learning process along with reading articles.
- Instagram – Once my algorithm found out that I was into Astrology it started showing me more and more accounts that talked about Astrology- And birth charts for that matter. I now follow three accounts that are so fun and always have me going back to my chart to see what I have placed in which house. These three accounts are:
Sun, Moon, Rising, Houses, Nodes, Chiron…..Where to Start?
First, get to know your Big Three—your Sun, Moon, and Rising signs—if you haven’t already. I’ve learned that your Rising sign is actually more important than you might think! If your horoscope or personality traits don’t quite resonate with you, try looking at your Rising sign instead—it might just be the missing piece of the puzzle. ✨

Next, dive into the 12 Houses! The chart below will help you understand what each house represents. For example, if you’re curious about the best career path for you, check which sign and planets are in your 10th House—that’s where the career magic happens! ✨

From there, I’d suggest looking into the North Node, South Node, and Chiron. These are areas that can reveal your soul’s journey, past experiences, and areas of deep Healing.
🌟 North Node – Your Soul’s Purpose & Growth
- Represents where you’re headed in this lifetime.
- Shows the qualities, experiences, and lessons you’re meant to embrace.
- Can feel uncomfortable at first because it’s unfamiliar but leads to fulfillment.
🌙 South Node – Your Past Life & Comfort Zone
- Represents past-life karma and traits you’ve already mastered.
- Shows your natural talents and habits but also what you need to grow beyond.
- Staying too stuck in your South Node can feel stagnant.
💔 Chiron – Your Deepest Wound & Healing Power
- Known as the “Wounded Healer,” it highlights your emotional or spiritual wounds.
- Shows areas where you may feel vulnerable, but also where you can help others.
- Healing your Chiron wound brings wisdom and strength.
Together, these placements offer deep insight into your personal growth, challenges, and ultimate life path! ✨

And now, this is about all I know about birth charts thus far. There is so much more to discover. Again, I highly recommend using ChatGPT to discover more of your chart. It’s free and I have found this tool so incredibly helpful. I know it’s AI, but it’s answers are always so on the dot, informative and personal.
