You’re either going to love this idea… or think I’ve completely lost my mind. 😂 But hey, I’ll let you be the judge—and maybe just keep it to yourself! As for me, I’m totally into this new little setup in our living room. I can already picture myself hanging out here, flipping through my CDs and loving every minute.

My mother-in-law was getting rid of this old CD boombox stereo because she thought the CD player didn’t work anymore. My son thought it looked cool and offered to take it off her hands. But once we got it home and I realized the CD player actually worked just fine, I asked if he’d mind if I claimed it instead—and luckily, he agreed!

The timing actually couldn’t have been better—we’d been watching some of the live Coachella performances, and my husband pulled out our old CD collection to find a Green Day album he wanted to transfer to his phone. With that big box of CDs out and our newly rescued CD player ready to go, it just felt right to set everything up and enjoy a little throwback moment.

I cleared off all the books that were originally on this wooden shelf and moved them over to the other bookshelves in the room. Then I added the stereo to the top and organized all of our CDs on the shelves below—it came together perfectly!

It’s funny to think that CDs are considered outdated these days. Record players have made a big comeback in a lot of homes, but if you’ve ever looked, vinyl records can be seriously expensive. I have a feeling CDs will have their moment too—someday they’ll be seen as a cool, nostalgic novelty, and people will be hunting for them in vintage shops. And who knows, by then, CDs might be just as pricey as records are now!

I’m so happy with my new little chill corner. I’ve already listened to a handful of CDs, and I can totally see this becoming my go-to hangout spot. Music just doesn’t hit the same way it used to—I often find myself missing the good old days of really listening and soaking it all in. This little setup feels like the perfect way to bring some of that magic back.
