New Wallpaper in my Bedroom

Hello There! I added the cutest wallpaper to my bedroom wall and I am so excited to share all about it with you today. My bedroom was needing a change and this wallpaper turned out to be the perfect thing.

This next picture is a reminder of how the room looked before. Years ago I drew lines on the wall with a pencil to resemble the look of shiplap/wood planks. It was a great little no-cost update and I’ve always liked the way it turned out but I was feeling like it was time for a change.

You can learn more about my Fake Planks Here. I like to think that I was the original creator of the pencil planks since the idea came to me one morning as I was laying in bed, but then it soon felt like everyone was doing it and claiming the idea to be their own, they just switched the pencil out for a Sharpie, but deep down I know it was my original idea. Ha! 🙂

I ordered my Wallpaper from PHOTOWALL. Photowall is an awesome company in Sweden that offerers a huge variety of Wallpaper, Wall Murals, Canvas Prints and Posters. I highly recommend Photowall because of their high quality products, enormous selection to choose from, and for their friendly environmental efforts in the details.

This isn’t the first time I’ve ordered from PHOTOWALL, This beautiful black and white canvas art that I had hanging above our fireplace is also from Photowall. See THIS BLOG POST to learn more about this canvas art.

At the end of this blog post I will be sharing a 25% off Discount Code to use at Photowall!!

Because of the huge selection of prints that Photowall has to choose from, it did take me quite some time to decided on which wallpaper I wanted to use in my bedroom. HERE are a few other wallpapers that I was debating about. But in the end THIS Waves pattern was the winner!

Photowall offers Free US Shipping and it ships in only 1-4 days. The wallpaper comes in rolls that are labeled in the order to which to hang them. The Wallpapers at Photowall also all come with wallpaper paste.

I went ahead and also ordered an assembly kit. For under $20 you can order this assembly kit that has all of the tools necessary to hang the wallpaper…..Well minus scissors. You are also going to want a good pair of scissors.

Each roll of wallpaper comes with a packet of wallpaper paste. You just mix the packet with water and it gives you a very generous amount of wallpaper paste to work with.

Now for the After!

I hung the wallpaper by myself and had it all completed in a weekend. That included any prep work and clean up. To prep my wall, I first gave the wall a quick coat of white paint to cover up my pencil planks. And since I had my white paint out, I gave the window trim and molding a fresh coat of paint. I also removed all of my outlet covers.

The wallpaper was fairly simple to apply to the wall. Around the window was a tad tricky and I soon realized that my wall wasn’t exactly straight (the joy of old homes) I had to do a little patch work at the bottom with some of the extra wallpaper, but in the end it all looks flawless.

I seriously couldn’t be more in love with the way that this wall turned out. The wave pattern adds such a fun beachy touch to my bedroom. It makes me smile every time I see it.

Once I was finished hanging the wallpaper I had fun putting the room back together. I remembered I had this extra window shade on hand and I choose to hang it up in this window instead of curtains. I like that the shade is really simple and doesn’t take away from my wallpaper wall in any way.

I have a dresser behind my bed that I use as a headboard. I just added a palm leaf, (from here) a wicker lamp, a large seashell, and some wedding pictures to the dresser. My husband and I were married on a beach in Hawaii and so it just feels right to decorate our bedroom in a beachy look.

I love the tropical sheets on my bed. I’m not sure it they are still available, but I purchased them from Pottery Barn Teen. They are from their Roxy collection….. So What if I’m in my forties, that doesn’t stop me from shopping in the Teen section, especially if I see something that I really love 💕

I think the bed sheets go really well with the new wallpaper, and in fact, choosing a wallpaper that would go with my bed sheets was a part of the deciding factor for this wallpaper. That’s how much I love my sheets. I kept the rest of the bedding White to stick to that clean beach-house look.

This wicker trunk holds our extra pillow and blankets while adding texture to the room.

And an antique white bench at the end of the bed makes for a great spot to put on or take off shoes.

When the wicker lamp is turned on it adds fun shadows to the room and creates a soothing ambience.

And then lastly, I decided to bring back in my white shutters to each side of the window. I didn’t want to take away from the wallpaper in any way, but I do think that the old shutters add a nice finishing touch to the room.

So What do you think of the Wallpaper? Don’t you agree that it just changes the whole look of our bedroom in such a fun way?
