A while back I checked out a new store in town, and today I thought I’d blog about what I bought Vs How I styled it in our home. I love when I see other people do post like this because I find them entertaining and sometimes inspiring and so I hope to do the same for you today.
The name of the new store is, The Packing Shed and it’s owned by the same owner as, Grits and Grace. If you are local to my area then you’ll have to check it out if you haven’t yet. It’s honestly my new favorite store in town. I love it because it has such a great mix of old and new. Lots of cool antique furniture mixed in with cute farmhouse home decor.
So Here’s what I bought and how much I paid:
- A used GAP denim Jacket for $12.00
- A rusty old bait box for .50 Cents
- A package of 4 Dried Sun Palm Leaves for $12.00
Let’s start with the bait box since it’s the most interesting thing. I found it mixed in with a bunch of random farm equipment parts and tools. It had a price tag of 50. cents and so I figured that for that price it needed to come home with me and that I could probably find something to do with it. I had to do a little research about it when I got home, but apparently it’s made for storing worms in when you go fishing. You can attach it to your belt making it super handy, I’m guessing. I just thought it was cool and I liked the green color of it.
So when I got it home I washed it up reallllllly good since it was gross and covered in dirt. And then I decided it would be perfect for holding q-tips. So I attached it the wall in our bathroom using command stripes. The really cool thing about this bait box that you can’t tell from the pictures but it actually rotates to open and close.
I just love things that are quirky and Out of the box like this….or should I say out of the Bait box? LOL!
Next I picked up this package of 4 sun palms / Palm fronds. I’m always drawn to anything tropical feeling.
I wasn’t sure what I was going to do with them, but I kinda imagined that I would put them in a vase on the mantle or something of sorts, but after playing around with them throughout our home, I found that the best place for them was in our entry way, tucked into the coat rack.
I think that having the palm leaves mixed in with the straw hats and bags really give this entry area a tropical island feel.
And then hanging here is also my new denim jacket. I love this jacket and have worn it several times, but I also just like the way it looks hanging here, so I always hang it back up here after I’m done wearing it.
The store had a whole rack of second hand denim jackets, I tried on a couple, but once I tried this one on I knew it was coming home with me. It fits cute and not too tight in the arms….which I can’t stand.
