There’s something magical about a little moment of old postcards, cards, photographs, or art tucked inside a mirror. It feels layered, collected, and just a little bit surprising in the best way. It’s such a simple idea, but it adds so much character and charm to a space.

When you Run out of Frames (and wall space…..but still want something new)
This idea came to me when I was wanting to add a little more art around our home, only to realize I’d officially run out of picture frames and wall space for that matter. Even the refrigerator is completely covered in photos. But then I realized a little solution, tucking art inside a mirror. It turns out, it’s the perfect place to layer something special without needing another nail in the wall.

My Favorite Free Art Source
I’ve shared my favorite free art source in several blog posts before, and I’ll be sure to link those at the end of this one as well. My go-to for FREE public domain images is a website called RAWPIXEL. You can sign up for a free account, and they also offer a premium membership that unlocks even more artwork and creative tools.
I’m currently using the free version and have found an incredible amount of art available. While some pieces do require a membership, you’ll know right away when you click “download,” it will either save directly to your computer or prompt you to upgrade. I’ve also noticed that occasionally only a lower-resolution version is available without a membership, but it’s still great quality especially if you’re not printing at a very large scale.

Printing four images on one 8X10
Another FREE Source I have Discovered Is Walgreens Photo center. Now it’s not exactly free, but if you sign up for their emails they Often send out coupon codes for FREE 8X10 prints that you can pick up at your local Walgreens the same day you place your order. Whenever I get one of these emails, I head to RAWPIXEL and find me a picture to download and upload to Walgreens photo center. Now because I was wanting four pictures printed instead of one big one. I then went to Canva and opened up a blank page. I uploaded the four images onto one page and then downloaded it to my computer.

The Art I chose this time and Why I love mixing Styles
I absolutely love this little collection of prints I put together. The photo of my husband and me will find a different spot in our home, but the horse portrait, floral painting, and ship artwork felt meant to stay together. Not only are the colors beautifully similar, but the mix of styles reflects my aesthetic so well — coastal, cottage, and a touch of country. This is the kind of art that truly speaks to me, and I love that it feels so personal and representative of my style.

Tucking art into a Mirror (My new favorite styling trick)
It truly doesn’t get any easier than this. Just add a small piece of rolled tape to the back of your print and press it gently onto the corner of a mirror. That’s it. I also love the idea of tucking in postcards, old letters, or meaningful photographs. The overall look feels layered and lived-in, almost like a quiet collection of memories. There’s something so special about placing those pieces somewhere you’ll see them every day.
