Seattle-Style Hot Dog

With Seattle Seahawks playing (and Winning!) the Super bowl last Sunday- We were searching the internet before hand to decide what we should eat for the big Game Day! In all of our searches, Seattle Dogs was on the top of the list. After figuring out the main ingredients we put these babies together and Dang, they were Good!!

The basic ingredients for a Seattle-Style Hot Dog are hotdogs, buns, cream cheese, and caramelized onions. These flavors all go so well together. There are some additional toppings you can add such as; sriracha, jalapeños, mustard, sauerkraut. I recently discovered candied jalapeños and I thought they went well with these hot dogs. Candied jalapeños come in a jar like pickles and are sweet, kinda like a sweet pickle, but they are not as hot as normal jalapeño, which can personally be too hot for me.

Ingredients

  • Hot Dogs (We like frankfurters- The ones that are more expensive typically taste the best)
  • Hot dog Buns or Hoagie Buns- Toasted
  • Whipped Cream Cheese – (Philadelphia Brand Original) The Pre-Whipped is easy to spread.
  • One large Sweet Onion – diced and caramelized
  • Optional Toppings – Sriracha, Mustard, Jalapeños or Candied Jalapeños, sauerkraut

Directions

  1. Dice your onion and place in a pan with oil. Sauté over medium heat until golden brown and caramelized. (THIS tool is great for Chopping Onions).
  2. Cut X’s into your hot dogs and cook either stove top or in an Airfryer. We cooked our in THIS air fryer. The X’s allow the hot dog to cook evenly, plus they look fun this way. I recently saw THIS Tool that makes the X’s for you.
  3. Toast your bun however you typically do it. We again use our airfyer.
  4. Spread a generous amount of the Whipped Cream Cheese onto your bun.
  5. Add Hot dog, and sautéed onions.
  6. Add any additional toppings that you like. My husband liked the sriracha, and I liked the candied Jalapeños.
  7. Serve with french fries or potato chips and Enjoy!
