Christmas Kitchen with Painted tile backsplash

I decorated our Kitchen a wee bit for Christmas but I’ve realized that I haven’t yet shared my recently painted backsplash, so I figured today I could kill two birds with one stone and share both……. wow I don’t think I have ever used that expression before, and now that I type it. I don’t think I care for it much. Moving On.

I always find our Kitchen a difficult space to photograph – The lighting is brighter in the front of the room and much darker at the end of the room. So please keep that in mind. But I did try to capture the room the best that I could.

As far as decorating the room for Christmas, I really kept it simple -like I usually do. I hung a real pine branch and a small red berry wreath at my stove area and then brought in a flocked mini tree and placed it next to my sink. There is also a garland hanging up above the walkway from the dining room into the kitchen.

I did share a video on Instagram explaining my process a bit more about how I painted the backsplash which you can view HERE. But since you are here now- Let me just quickly explain. The tile was a green stone at one point and then I painted all of my backsplash White. (Blog post about the white painted backspash can be read HERE) It was white for many years but then I had this idea to give it a new look. I just hand painted the blue squares and red border. I then used a stamp I had on hand, added some paint to the stamp, and stamped the birds, owls, and flowers on. I then added a few red dots to the center tile.

I am absolutely thrilled with how it turned out. It was just a boring white space before and now it adds so much charm to our kitchen. Honestly, I’m surprised that I didn’t think to paint it sooner.

The little red wreath looks so great on top of the painted tiles. As you can see from the above picture, I’ve also gotten out our Aebleskiver pan because these little danish pancakes have become a Christmas Morning family tradition. Oh I just saw that they also make a Aeblesiver Waffle maker that might be ever better!

I also haven’t shared my new curtains that are hanging in our kitchen here on the blog yet. I love these blue and white stripe curtains and think they look so great hanging in our kitchen next to the Wallpaper.

If you happen to be new here and have any questions about anything, feel free to just ask. You can also search Kitchen in the search bar under my blog header and find all my other blog post related to my kitchen…..you might be interested to learn that I have made over this kitchen A Lot – Like 10 times or so! I can’t even keep up.

Although I haven’t changed too much to our kitchen since the last time I gave it a makeover because I still love it so much. But there are a few little changes, like the new curtains that I just mentioned, and I did just add these tiny plates to my window.

The wreath on the window and the mini tree are making my kitchen feel so festive right now.

I don’t share this other side of the room very often, Mostly because that counter hutch area is our catch all for everything and always ends up looking pretty messy, but I cleaned it off just for you. If only it could stay looking like this.

I do have fun decorating this little shelf though. A few nutcracker tins, and some holiday linens gives this wall a cheerful look for Christmas.

If you missed it, I just blogged about our nutcracker collections. We have 44 nutcrackers and our collection grows every year! See them HERE.

I’ll be back to share our dining room soon. But what did you think of our Kitchen decorated for Christmas? I’d love to hear your thoughts.
