Slaw Dogs

While on our Fathers Day Camping Trip over the weekend,  I came up with a fun new recipe I wanted to share with you today.

My husband, Jake makes the very best coleslaw Ever!

The funny part is, he doesn’t even really like coleslaw, but he makes it just for me.

Well normally you have coleslaw as a side dish,  but I got to thinking, How would it taste as a relish on my hotdog?

Delicious!

Because this coleslaw has pineapple in it,  paired with the hotdog it lends a fresh Hawaiian taste to it.

Creamy Coleslaw

– 1 pre-packaged bag of Coleslaw

– 1/2 cup Mayo (more can be added for your liking)

– 1 tbsp Vinegar

– 2 tsp Sugar

– 1/2 tsp Celery seed

– 1/4 Salt

– 1 small can of Pineapple tidbits

– 1/2 cup Craisons

– 1/4 tsp Sunflower Seeds

Mix all ingredients together and place onto your hotdog.

If you are making this while camping,  I would suggest making it just before hand,  otherwise it may get a bit watery.

The other recipe we tried out (Sorry no picture) was one we found on the cover of Good Housekeeping July 2013.   It was a blue cheese dog.  We modified it a bit and it goes something like this:

Blue Cheese Dog

– 1 medium size Cucumber cut into small cubes

– 1 cup crumbled Blue cheese

– 1/2 cup Mayo

Mix together, sprinkle with salt and pepper.  Place onto your hotdog.

The Blue Cheese is Awesome paired with the hotdog.  This one was Jake’s favorite.

We will definitely be making these again on our next camping trip.  Hope you give them a try as well.

Thanks for stopping by,

Emily
