Simple Spring Porch Refresh – With New Faux Ferns

Oh how I love Spring and Welcome it with wide open arms every year after months of gloomy winter days. To say Hello to Spring I gave our front porch a simple refresh, with a new wreath, some beautiful faux ferns, and a bucket full of clipped branches.

The Wicker Wreath that Started it all

My mother-in-law recently asked if I would help her clear out and better organize her seasonal décor, and I was more than happy to help. Organizing is actually one of my favorite things to do. Her garage wall was full of hanging seasonal decorations and had become a bit cluttered and overfilled, so we worked on arranging everything in a way that made it easier for her to see what she had and grab things when she needed them. She was also ready to part with quite a few items, which meant I was able to pick out a few things to bring home with me.

This wicker wreath was one of the pieces I was happy to take off her hands. At first I wasn’t completely sure about it because it had some bright orange flowers mixed in. But once I got it home, removed the orange flowers, and fluffed up the little wire blooms, it started to look much more like my style. When I hung it on my green front door, it looked so charming that I was immediately glad I grabbed it. I even joked with my mother-in-law that once it was up on my door, she definitely couldn’t ask for it back!

Faux Ferns that look just like the real thing

Another new addition to my porch are THESE 2 Fake Boston Fern Outdoor Plants. They fit perfectly in the pots sitting on the porch stoops, and I love how they instantly liven up the front porch with a fresh pop of greenery.

These ferns look incredibly real. The fronds are two-toned, with one side a lighter green and the other a darker shade, which gives them a lot of natural color variation. They even have little new starts mixed in, just like you would see on a real fern plant. The leaves also have wire in them, so they can easily be moved and adjusted. Altogether they have that slightly wild, full look that real ferns naturally have.

Here is a closeup look at the fern.

When you purchase these ferns, they come as a set of two. They’re packaged tightly together, so you’ll need to fluff them a bit to get them looking full. Each fern has a short stem at the bottom that can be pushed directly into the soil. They’re designed for outdoor use and even have UV protection, so the colors won’t fade in the sun.

I love ferns and would plant real ones if I could, but where I live gets really hot in the summer. I might be able to grow ferns in a shady spot in our backyard, but they would dry out quickly in our south-facing front yard. That’s why I love these faux ferns — they give me the lush, natural look I adore without any of the worry.

My mother-in-law gave me these ferns for my birthday after I noticed the outdoor plants she had ordered for her own home. She went with THIS Set of Two Topiary Cedar Potted trees, pictured below. She had used other faux plants for years, but they finally started to wear down and get brittle, so she decided to refresh her porch with these new ones, and they made a huge difference. I loved them so much that I started looking at other options, and that’s when I discovered how many different faux plants are available. I decided on the ferns, and she was happy to gift them to me after seeing how much I loved hers.

A bucket of Spring Branches from the Backyard

We recently had some trees trimmed in our backyard, and as I was cleaning up all the branches, it occurred to me that if you put branches in water, they’ll bloom faster, so that’s exactly what I did. At first, I kept the bucket inside, but while tidying up the front porch, I decided to move it outside. I can’t believe how much life and new growth have already started! In no time, there should be plenty of greenery and blooms to enjoy.

I also love how it looks next to the green door with that cute wreath. They just seem to go well together.

How it all comes together on the porch

Stepping back and looking at the porch now, I love how all the pieces come together. The wicker wreath adds charm to the green door, the faux ferns bring lush greenery without any worry, and the branches in the bucket hint at new life and blooms on the way. Together, they create a fresh, inviting spring look that fits perfectly with my country-coastal style and flows seamlessly with the rest of the house. Sometimes, it’s just a few simple touches that make the biggest difference.
