I found a new place for this large horse print and surprisingly it ended up above the toilet in our bathroom. Once it was hung, it made such a beautiful statement. There’s something about bold art in an unexpected place that instantly elevates a room. Paired with natural textures like seashells this bathroom captures the mix of country and coastal styles that I just love.

An Unexpected Place for Horse Art
I love giving bathrooms the same attention as the rest of our home. A large piece of art brings so much personality, especially in a small room like a bathroom, where every detail matters.

Layering Natural Textures
Layering natural textures is what truly brings this space together. Stacked in the corner I have seashells and starfish, an alligator skull, and a matching cream crock with a faux palm frond. I love these objects next to the sand-colored stone floors and countertops. To me it all looks earthy and natural.

Between the Country and the Coast
This bathroom feels like a place somewhere between the country and the coast. The horse art brings in a sense of wide-open land, while the seashells and palm frond feel like the beach is just right out the back door. Together, they make the space feel collected, grounding, and relaxed.

Why I Love Mixing Styles
I’ve always loved mixing styles because it makes a home feel personal rather than predictable. I personally have a love for both the Country and the Coast. I live in a small country town in Idaho, so Country / Farmhouse styles feel like home, however, my love for the Coast runs deep and it will always be my favorite destination.

On a wall just outside of this bathroom, I’ve got the opposite going on; Instead of a horse print, I’ve hung a serene seaside painting on the wall, and instead of seashells, I’ve got a long set of steer horns. But again, I have the two styles mixed beautifully together. This last image really is my style in a nutshell. Country+Coast.
