My Best Home Ideas and Projects of 2025

I love putting together these end of the year post. It allows me to have a look back at all of the changes I have made to our home. I took the summer-fall off from blogging so unless you follow me on Facebook and or Instagram there is a good chance you might have missed a few of these projects. I have attached a link at the bottom of the pictures if there is a related blog post, or a link to Instagram if there is a Video Reel with more details of any of the projects. So basically, going in order from January 2025 to December 2025, Let’s have a look back at what I’ve been up to this year!

I added Bamboo to Fireplace to give it a Tropical Look.

I started the 2025 Year in a Tropical mood. I had originally envisioned adding lattice to my fireplace, but after not finding the supplies I needed, I got creative and added bamboo garden stakes to my fireplace (using hot glue) after I had first painted the fireplace in a luscious green color.

How I added Bamboo to my Fireplace

I added a fun display to our dining room using blue speckled camp dishes.

We sold our Pop-up trailer this year because we weren’t able to use it like he had in the past. Before selling it we removed the camp dishes and games. I thought it would be fun to display the blue enamel camp dishes and badminton rackets to this shelf in our dining room as a fun reminder of our camping days.

I created a 90’s look by bringing in a Boombox and CD Collection to our living room.

After my Mother-in-Law gave me an old CD Stereo, I hunted down our old CD Collection from storage and found a place in our Living Room to create a little listening corner. It was a lot of fun listening to old CDs again. And also just fun to look at the CDs and actually hold the cases in our hands.

I painted an old bookshelf in a blue distressed look in our dining room.

I wanted to add a little color to this little bookshelf so I first painted it in a light blue. But I wasn’t that happy with it, so I got out some darker blue paint and lightly brushed it on to give it a cooler look. I then distressed the shelf a bit with sandpaper. I liked it in the end.

I added new Tropical Bedding to my bed along with a shutter door armoire.

Madison Park sent me some pretty new bedding that I picked out. I love this bedding so much. It looks amazing on my bed and is super soft. And then I found the Armoire at a yard sale. I think I paid 40 dollars for it. But I had to actually take the whole thing apart piece by piece and then re-built it again to get it up the stairs and into my bedroom. It was worth it in the end. I really love this little cabinet.

I added Summer Stripes to our Fireplace for a fun preppy look.

This is probably the Cutest thing I did all year! I had a wild idea one day and I just went for it. Using paint we already had on hand I painted stripes on our fireplace. It was perfect for Summer and added a fun preppy look to our living room.

I spray painted some old Metal Shelves to upgrade my Potting station.

This potting station was already here. I had created it the previous year. However the shelf I was using before had fallen apart.. After rearranging some shelves in our home, I was left with a couple of metal shelves. I gave them a cohesive look by using a dark brown spray paint. Then I just tidied up the space and thought it turned out great.

I Switched out the CD Shelf in our Living room for this larger shelf full of old law books.

My Husband closed his Law office this year. So we ended up with a lot of wood bookshelves, old law books, miscellaneous art work, and other things. I was excited to bring a lot of it home and decorate with it. So that is why I switched out the bookshelves in this room.

My Fireplace got a 3rd Makeover this Year. I Added barn wood over the stripes and hung a horse picture.

Once we started heading into the Fall months, the summer stripes felt out of place. So I covered them up with the barn wood that I’ve had hanging here before. (the other side of the wood is painted white which I’ve had hanging up a lot before too). The horse art was another item I scored from my husband’s old work office.

I added this antique shelf to our dining room to create a hutch (switching out the distressed blue bookshelf)

With all of the rearranging of shelves in our home, I ended up putting this old antique one here in our dining room, replacing the painted blue one that I had here before. I was excited with how this worked out, almost felt meant to be and I was surprised I didn’t think of doing this before.

I Repainted the Walls and Ceiling in our Living and Dining Room. This color is named, Horizon Gray by Benjamin Moore.

Our walls were a pretty Vanilla Color before and the Ceilings were painted a light blue. I loved it but I was wanting our beautiful trim work and moldings to stand out more – Which they did the second I painted the walls this pretty gray.

I grew the prettiest sunflowers🌻

I didn’t mean too, I didn’t plant a single sunflower seed, but this summer they grew everywhere!!! We had so many sunflowers in our front and back yard it was amazing!

I painted our front door (for the 8th time) This time Green!

It’s true 8 Times! I have painted this front door 8 times now!. See the previous 7 Colors HERE. Before this green, the door was stained a dark brown color. This green color is the same color as our garage and so I already knew it would look great on our house. And then I painted the door at the same time as the beautiful trees in the front of our home were changing into their glorious fall colors.

I got new blue and white stripe curtains in our kitchen, Living room and Dining room.

These curtains are Perfect! I went with a classic blue and white pin stripe because I knew I would never get tired of them. I love blue and white stripes and I know I always will. They will forever fit into my changing decorating styles.

I absolutely love these curtains. Get them here.

I hand painted our Kitchen Tile Backsplash to look like Dutch Delft Tiles.

This might be my favorite project of the year. This tile was a boring white before, not much to it, but now it has so much charm. It gives the look of Delft tiles which I think are so charming. I just used paint and a stamp to create this look. And then the red boarder gives a pop of color to our kitchen.

I sewed two Quilted block throw Pillows

I see more quilted projects in my future because these pillows were so fun to sew. I actually keep moving these pillows around our home because I love to see them in every room. They just make me happy!

Painted Folk Art Blue Shutters

After pinning 100 pictures of painted Folk Art furniture, I knew I had to make something for myself. Looking around my home I decided that these old shutters would be the perfect thing to paint. I used a stencil, paint, and even an empty toilet paper roll to create the designs. I adore how they turned out.

I painted a Barn Quilt for our Fireplace

Wanting something different on our fireplace for Christmas, I decided to paint a Barn quilt on some old wood and hang it up. I had originally planned to paint it white and blue, or white and Red, but then in the end I kept it white and wood. Although, I think it would still have been cute in any of the different ways.

And then we leave the year with my Christmas Decorating. Wow! What a year! I guess I was most surprised with the amount of bookshelves being moved around and the fact that I made over the fireplace 3 different times. I wonder what next year’s projects with be. I hope you’ll stick around to see.
